ジオの旅 南伊豆
暮らしのツアーをつくろう。
日本で唯一、フィリピン海プレートの上にあり、海底火山を由来とする奇岩奇勝によりユネスコの世界ジオパークに認定されている伊豆半島。その最南端に位置する静岡県南伊豆町を舞台に「地質（ジオ）」というテーマを据え、そこから派生する土地の暮らしと歴史を体験するツアー企画が「ジオの旅 南伊豆」です。
ツアーロゴをはじめ、チラシ、宣伝ビジュアルのデザイン、写真記録ほか、ツアータイトル、コンセプト設計などを地元のジオガイドさんたちと一緒に制作しています。
旅先では、時に参加者が自らその夜の料理のために釣りをし、火起こしをするなど、人が生きるために必要な暮らしのベースを実践します。すべてが金銭の対価となりサービスが用意される“お客様”としての消費的ツアーではなく、参加者自身が関わり、思考し、体験し、南伊豆で暮らす人の感覚を少しでも知る、そんなツアーとして設計しています。
Geo Journey – Minami-Izu
Creating a Tour of Everyday Life
The Izu Peninsula is the only place in Japan located on the Philippine Sea Plate. Formed by ancient submarine volcanoes, its dramatic coastal rock formations led to its recognition as a Izu Peninsula Geopark by UNESCO.
Set in Minamiizu at the southernmost tip of the peninsula, Geo Journey – Minami-Izu is a tour project built around the theme of geology (“geo”). From this geological foundation, the program expands into experiences that reveal the local history and the everyday life shaped by the land.
Iwata Design Studio collaborated with local geo-guides to develop the project, creating the tour logo, flyers, promotional visuals, and photographic documentation, while also contributing to the tour title and overall concept design.
During the journey, participants may find themselves fishing for the evening meal or starting a fire together—practices that reconnect them with the basic acts necessary for human life. Rather than a conventional consumer tour where every service is prepared in exchange for money, the program is designed so that participants engage directly: thinking, working, and experiencing the rhythms of life in Minami-Izu, even if only for a short time.
ロゴについて
About the Logo
GEOのロゴは、海面から突起する奇岩のカタチをモチーフに、海から陸へと隆起した歴史を海色から陸色へのグラデーションで表現しています。
The GEO logo takes its motif from the shapes of rugged rocks rising above the sea surface. A gradient shifting from sea-blue to earth-tone expresses the geological history of land that emerged from the ocean.
記録撮影
Photographic Documentation
ツアーに同行し、現地に6回ほど通って記録撮影を行っています。デザインだけでなく、地元の人たちと一緒にツアーづくりから参加しています。
The tours are accompanied by documentary photography. Over approximately six visits to the area, the project has been recorded on site. The work extends beyond graphic design: it involves participating in the creation of the tour itself together with local residents and guides.
