原発事故と学校統廃合を経て

少子化の影響で、2016年度を最後に5つの小学校が廃校になる福島県伊達市の梁川（やながわ）地区。学校統廃合に加え、この辺りは原発事故で引っ越してきた新住民も入り混じる地区です。もともとそこにいる人と、新たにそこに加わる人を繋ぐ場作り企画として今、同地区の梁川小学校を舞台に「やながわコミュニティ未来シアター」が進められ、映画上映をはじめとするさまざまな地域参加型のイベントが行われています。
このコミュニティシアタープロジェクトにおいて、シアターのロゴをはじめ、各種デザインを岩田デザイン事務所が手がけています。

Navigating Post-Nuclear Accident Challenges and School Mergers

In the Yanagawa district of Date City, Fukushima Prefecture, declining birthrates led to the closure of five elementary schools at the end of the 2016 academic year. In addition to these school consolidations, the area has become a melting pot of longtime residents and newcomers who relocated following the nuclear accident.
To bridge the gap between the original community and its newer members, the "Yanagawa Community Mirai Theater" was launched. Using the local Yanagawa Elementary School as its stage, the project hosts various community-participation events, including film screenings.
Iwata Design Studio is responsible for the project's visual identity, including the logo and various design elements.

ロゴについて

About the Logo

ロゴは日本の伝統的な家紋「宝結紋」をアレンジし、この紋が持つ「人と人を結びつける」という意味をコミュニティの目的と連携させています。舞台が小学校ということもあり、落書きなどで子どもたちの間でも気軽に遊んでもらえるよう、ロゴマークはキャラ性のあるデザインに。同市の名産品である桃とあんぽ柿から、ピンクとオレンジをシンボルカラーにしています。

The logo is an arrangement of the Takaramusubi-mon (Treasure Knot), a traditional Japanese family crest. The inherent meaning of this motif—"binding people together"—aligns perfectly with the community's primary objective of fostering social connections.

ぼくたちの通学路わたしたちの学校 DVD

"Our Commute, Our School" DVD

廃校になる小学校5校の子どもたちが学校の最後の思い出にとコマ撮り映画「ぼくたちの通学路わたしたちの学校」を制作。制作のサポートには山形県映画センター、山形国際ドキュメンタリー映画祭事務局などがあたり、岩田デザイン事務所がDVDジャケットをデザインしています。イラストは6歳の子どもに外注し、家から学校までの道のりを表現してもらっています。

To create a final memory of their closing schools, students from the five affected elementary schools produced a stop-motion film titled "Our Commute, Our School." Production support was provided by the Yamagata Film Center and the Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival (YIDFF) organizing committee, among others. Iwata Design Studio designed the DVD jacket, featuring an illustration commissioned from a six-year-old child to depict the journey from home to school.
